Introducing Masami Takahasni's solo project "jealousguy"
jealousguy makes unique and experimental electronic music using just a laptop, midi controller, synthesizer and samples. Her distinctive style is not restricted by BPM or traditional sequencing methods, immediately standing her apart from the crowd. Live she is just as idiosyncratic, captivating audiences with her energetic performances. Firmly putting to rest the idea that electronic music doesn’t translate live, she hits off every sound in real time playing the midi pads like a concert pianist ? it is truly something to behold.
jealousguy first introduced herself by contributing to the compilation "A Prevalent Oscillation Base" from VOLVOX RECORDS in 2007. In 2009, she digitally released tracks from various labels such as gaterocords-owned tation and under tone. In April 2011, she released her debut album "Hydration" on Ihatov Remains. In 2015, her much-anticipated second album "OVERSHADOWED" will be released from Lo-Vibes.
Based in Hokkaido she has played numerous shows. She opened for Four Tet in July and Gold Panda in September, 2011. In the same year, she performed at Mo' Fun making a huge impact on the audience, and has collaborated with many artists since. In 2012, she made an appearance at Low End Theory Japan and Sonar Japan and drastically expanded the scope of her musical activities. Later in the year, she joined kidsuke’s European tour organised by Original Cultures, spreading her playful sonics even further afield. She has been participating in various compilations, steadily building her profile internationally. Making full use of the MPDs, having developed and mastered her own original and personal approach to Ableton Live, she creates dizzying, crazy disjointed beats and melodies both live and on record. Her biggest passion is to give boosts of energy to the dance floor. Currently based in Niseko, Hokkaido, Masami enjoys her life in the countryside finding inspiration in nature.
Now four years after her debut, she has really captured the essence and dynamism of her live show in this new work. The range of melody and rhythm at play is quite astonishing, her talent really shining through. Both colorful and chaotic, but always underpinned by aggressive drums and bass, "OVERSHADOWED" positions her at the forefront of the international beats scene. Impossible to categorize, jealousguy is in her own lane and one of the most exciting new artists to emerge in electronic music. "GO" is five songs that will pique your artistic curiosity. Meaning "five" in Japanese, "GO" is Offwhyte's first official release in as many years, and on this digital EP he is paired with renowned Japanese beatsmith KK.
Co-released by Galapagos4 and KK's own label Lo-Vibes, the sound on "GO" reflects much of what KK has been doing within his own faction for the past several years. A fixture of the Tokyo music scene, KK aka The Khaosist has been trying to accomplish a bigger sound. On "GO", dubstep and glitch influences are present amongst KK's impeccable sample sequencing.
Themes on the EP shift from Offwhyte's immovable ideology and opinionated stubbornnes ("Divider") to current methods of communication via technology ("Mediums"). Offwhyte's usual themes of inner struggle and retaining individuality shine bright on all five tracks here, culminating on the EP's lead single, "Country of Islands", a tribute to his native homeland of the Philippines.

The cutting edge UK crew luckyme released "Room Mist EP", which was fully produced by Hudson Mohawke in 2009. Its Female MC, Nadsroic held listeners across the world captive with her whisper voice and her characteristic chorus-working The same year, she moved to Japan for two years and interacted with the Japanese music scene and a wide variety of creator, while teaching English to children.
and Now, in 2013…"yokka", the compilation of carefully chosen songs by select creator that she met in Japan will finally be released! ("yokka" means “ok,ok. No problem!” in the dialect of Kagoshima, where she lived.)
Her voice dances like a petal on the wind over the richly varied music of the uniquely styled creators, Yosi Horikawa, Daisuke Tanabe, Repeat Pattern, jealousguy, KK, Drastic Adhesive Force.
Having returned to her home country of UK, and working to expectations of further developments from her base in London, this album is a work both “kind and profound” which, along with holding up the manifold happy memories of her time in Japan, is also wrapped up in strong and heavy feelings for the many people who were lost during the unforgettable earthquake of 2011.
